Here is what happened to me – I didn’t read any of your blog, I just clicked directly on the link to see the kitty blog. So I had no preconceived notions of what I was about to see. The first few pictures I didn’t get because of the text, so I just kept scrolling through to see the cute pictures. The pictures were funny so I kept looking at them….4 or 5 pages or so. I kept reading the text because I felt like it was a requirement, but I was super bugged.
So how I was GOING to respond initially was to say, “Cute pictures! But how annoying to have to view them around such aggravating text overlayed onto the pictures”.
THEN I read your posting….as in “do you love the pictures or get annoyed by the text”? And I noted how interesting it was that I responded right in line with the content. Pictures = funny. Text = nails on a chalkboard nerve grating.
The end.

Don’t you think it’s interesting how we react to word ON pictures? After all we’re so used to seeing words around pictures (captions, comics, etc.) but we react so strongly when the alphabetic text infringes upon the image itself…these spatial organizes, and reactions to them, are one of the things that fascinate me about blogging.
By the by, the Hamster Space program one makes me laugh…both the image and the caption (and the comment that no hamsters were hurt in the making.)

Maybe if we all spoke Cat Ebonics it would totally make sense to us. It is bad enough some of us speak in this fashion – why would you write this way? The pictures with no captions speak volumes themselves. On some of the pictures the captions did add a little humor to an otherwise reqular picture of a cat. Example: there is a picture of a cat on a washing machine that the overall joke is funny but the way it was written did not add anything. But what do I know I notz real smart I licke all the restz of u…yo Dog whoops I mean YO CAT!
